Grammar I was wondering why sometimes we have to use the ing form rather than the infinitive form. For instance, 1- I am looking forward to meeting you next weekend! 2- I am looking forward to meet you next weekend! I know that the verb "To meet" of the first sentence has to be in ing form because it is a gerund and because it is grammatically correct but, why is it like that, is there a different meaning if I would be using the verb "to meet" without the ing form in this context? Thank you for your help!

Not in this case. Your second sentence is grammatically incorrect and just sounds awkward; it doesn't have any other meaning. If you were to say, "I am going to meet you next weekend", then that would sound just fine.
