Andrew
to reassure vs. to console vs. to comfort Hi. What exactly the difference among these three verbs (to reassure; to console; to comfort)? Thanks a lot in advance!

I would like to reassure you our arrangements will stay the same during the forthcoming organisational changes. After I lost my job, my friend comforted / consoled me and I felt better. "Comfort" and "console" are close synonyms. "Console" has a narrower range of usage in that it is used when someone is grieving for the loss of something or someone.
