Well your meaning is clear, but this isn't how a native speaker would put it - especially the bit about eating a pig in a poke - that is an idiom which is usually expressed as 'buying/getting a pig in a poke' - never eating one!
Try this for an alternative 
It is much better for your health, and your budget,  to eat home cooked food using
fresh, seasonal ingredients, than to spend a lot of money on restaurant meals, where you don't know what has gone into them.
