Bueno, sin frases específica, no puedo contestarte muy bien porque no es tan fácil en el inglés como en el español ya que no tiene otro conjugación cómo Ud/Uds. Más bien al hablar inglés formal, unas palabras cambian por otras, están pronunciadas con más cuidado, generalmente las contracciones y los verbos compuestos se usan con menos frecuencia y las oraciones se alargan y se ponen más complejo El lenguaje que puedes ver en los periódicos es típicamente discurso formal.
