Were(verb)-2nd person past plural, a state of being. EX: Where were you yesterday? Her eyes were brown. The dog's were fed last night. Was(verb)-1st and 3rd person past tense. EX: It was raining earlier. She was beautiful on her wedding day. The dog was dirty before having a bath. Went(verb)-Past tense of 'go'. EX: He went to the theater. They went to buy groceries. She went camping with her family last summer.
