Genki-example.....does the sentece sound unnatural? nanji goro okimasuka hachiji goro okimasu- This sounds so unnatural O-o You woudn`t answer that question in englsih by saying : I go to bed at about 11`clock. You`d say: At about 11 (o`clock) So do Japanese people actually talk like this?

1. "okimasu" is to wake up not go to sleep 2. If someone asked you "What time do you get up?," it would be perfectly natural to say "I get up at about 8" so I don't know why you make it seem like something only weird people would say. The truncation to "At about 8" is not natural in Japanese because saying "hachi ji goro" by itself is very vague: it can mean the time of day or a length of time. It also doesn't sound very nice, so people might think your response is curt.
