I agree with Sergi, but if I'm not wrong I think another way of translating this sentence would be as simple as follows: Yo era bueno en ciclismo.

En realidad como querías decirlo estabas a un poco de hacerlo correctamente, sólo es cuestión de ordenar: Se me solía dar bien el ciclismo. ¡Listo!
