What is this "у" stands for?
I've seen some pharses like and i was wondering what is the meaning of the 'y, what if i drop out?
"Карина, ну, как у тебя дела с мужем?"
"у меня есть ..."
we rarely use the verb 'have' (иметь) in spoken russian. instead with use the structure 'there is something AT somebody'. So I have will be у меня есть, she has will be у неё есть and so on. If you omit 'y' (at) the structre will be incomplete.
