What's the difference between Kono and kore, and sono and sore, and so on?

The "no" versions are used when specifying the actual target, for example, in English we would say "That car over there is red". The "re" versions when not specifying the target with words. For example in English you could point at the car and say "That one over there is red". I hope this helps

This is how it goes: この (kono): Present affirmative "This" ”このこうちゃがうまいよ” (kono koucha ga umai yo) "This black tea is really good!" これ (kore): Present non-affirmative "This" "これはあなたのえんぴつですか?” (kore wa anata no enpitsu desuka?) "Is this your pencil? その (sono): Present affirmative "That" "そのレストランがすごいです!” (sono resutoran ga sugoi desu) "That restaurant is awesome!" それ (Sore): Present non-affirmative "That" "それはあなたのくるまですか?” (sore wa anata no kuruma desu ka) "Is that your car?
