Can native English speakers understand this sentence I wrote? Currently, I am very interested in topics that are in light of modeling decisions to falsify standard economics assumptions.

No, it doesn't make sense. You should have taken note of what Business English Ed told you yesterday - forget about anything to do with 'light'. The correct expression is 'in the light of', but this is completely the wrong expression to use here.

The second part of your sentence seems to be overly complicated. It looks to me like you have tried too hard to use complicated vocabulary instead of keeping it simple.
