excessive vs. surplus Good mornigng! Explain, please, are there any differences between "excessive weight" and "surplus weight"?For example, "I am trying to lose my weight because I have surplus weight". Can I use "surplus" in this sentence?

I would say that excessive used regarding too much of something, in a bad way/negative connotation. Surplus generally refers to excess but in a positive way? (Surplus of grain for the winter.. Surplus of money) or surplus is used referring to amounts ?
