Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your viewpoint, we are giving free will, and as such man is capable of horrible terrible things, like genocide, child molestation, rape, serial killing, etc. Don't blame God for the choices we choose to make. He appears silent a lot of the time, I know, but He did say ' My ways are not your ways ', so that amount sums it up.

Religion appears to encourage or lead to violence. Although God is normally considered great and wonderful, if religion leads to violence, maybe God should be considered terrible.
