question Linda was vaguely aware of being kicked and stepped on. She got to her hands and knees(standing was currently out of the question) and crawled into the aisle opposite the one she’d been sitting in. Her hand squelched in more of Carolyn’s blood. Alice and Aidan were trying to get to Caro. Knowing they might be seriously hurt if they made it into the aisle (and not wanting them to see what had become of the woman she assumed was their mother), Andi reached over the bench just ahead of her to grab them. She had dropped the VADER envelope. Question 1: "crawled into the aisle opposite the one" the aisle in this sentence refers to the spacing between rows, right? Question 2: "if they made it into the aisle" the aisle here refers to where? carolyn was stting in the second row from the podium. Linda was sitting wth Andi in the third row, and Andi was sitting on the aisle; The kids were sitting with Carolyn As for their specific places, I don't know. Could you tell me that? Are their seats diagonal instead of parallel to each other?Andi was early enough to have her pick of seats, and chose the third row from the stage, on the aisle. Just ahead of her in the second row were Carolyn Sturges and the Appleton children. The kids were gawking wide-eyed at everything and everyone. The little boy had what appeared to be a graham cracker clutched in his fist. Linda Everett was another early arriver. Julia had told Andi about Rusty being arrested—utterly ridiculous—and knew his wife must be devastated, but she was hiding it well behind great makeup and a pretty dress with big patch pockets. Given her own situation (mouth dry, head aching, stomach roiling), Andi admired her courage. “Come sit with me, Linda,” she said, patting the spot beside her. “How is Rusty?”

Generally speaking, it seems you are trying to extract more information than this passage actually provides. Q1 For clarity (and sorry if you already know this) the rows will be parallel to the stage etc, the aisles will be at right angles to the stage, usually one down each side of an auditorium and possibly one down the centre; maybe more in a very large area. It is not clear exactly what has just happened but in the second sentence Linda has been sitting IN the aisle. This is not usual so we must assume an apparently violent incident has caused her to be there. Q2 From the information supplied it is not possible to say where this aisle is in relation to anything/anyone or where the characters were in relation to each other except for which rows they were in. Why is it important to know if they were on a diagonal from each other? Finally,,,, 'Andi was sitting on the aisle...' This means Andi was sitting in a seat at the end of a row, not actually ON the aisle.
