How to call the event we arrange for the New Year? We have a get-together in the school to welcome the New Year. In it, students from different classes may sing, dance, play a drama or perform cross talk. How do you usually call such event? New Year's Gala? Thank you!

Gala is a rather grand word and suggests something on a large scale. New Year's Party or New Year's Celebrations would be just fine.

I would call it a festival, party, or celebration. new years's activities include and list like a flyer telling what will be there. Galas to me are more fundraising, big events that are bigger than school.
