DanO's translations are pretty good, the problem is, if you say them to a foreigner who doesn't know Chinese, you will probably have to explain yourself. We simply don't have this sentence in English, it's not common knowledge.
A: ...And the day after they went public, the stock suddenly dropped!
B: Damn....you know what they say, exposure kills!
A: Who says that?
B: The Chinese!
A: .......
B: It could be explained as being the "Sod's Law" of going public.
Just my opinion. But it's good enough for Chinglish.
