The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the best colleges in the U.S., has courseware available for free online. Not all courses are available, but there are many, and they are the same as the courses which are or were taught at MIT. You could find a course of interest, and then look at the syllabus to see what textbook and other books are used. Those should generally be high-quality books. See the link below.
