American accent "other than"

How does "other than" sound in American accent? I think I heard Americans saying it more like "otha than". So is there an r or no? I thought it should be there, but now I'm not sure.

If I'm right here then could you give me some other examples of word connections like this (as many as you can remember please).

There's an "r". I don't know how to write "accented" English but I think it sounds something like "uther then"
