I would suggest learning some simple phrases first. Things like:
I'm 20 years old. I live in Paris, France. I work in a grocery shop. My hobbies are mountain climbing and reading.
Just simple sentences like the ones above. Get a basic feel for the language.
Use Google Translate a lot, it translates accurately most of the time (at least when translating between English and Swedish). And simple phrases like the ones you should start with it handles without any problems.
