Designed for intermediate to advanced English learners, this podcast provides materials that aid the learner in increasing vocabulary and listening skills.
  • itcansay.com Huge Database of Audio Samples for English Pronunciation Practice, Dictionary, Online Text Reader - This site is really cool - simple, elegant and very useful. There are three main resources on the site: 1) dictionary 2) audio recordings of native English speakers pronouncing the words in the dictionary (20,000+) 3) an online text reader The dictionary is nothing special in and of itself, but when you add in the ability to view any entry and then click to hear the word pronounced, it adds up to a really cool and handy tool for English learners of all levels. You can also choose to have random words appear to test your knowledge. The added online text reader is fun to play with and can really be more of a learning game for children. This is a really solid, straight-forward resource.
  • Exam English Free Practice Tests - This resource has many useful materials for English language learners interested in studying for and passing the essential ESL/EFL exams (mentioned above). The practice tests are very useful... and free! The level test is great for people interested in determining their level of English knowledge in terms of the standard English proficiency tests.
  • Internet TESL Journal for Teachers of English as a Second Language - This is an incredible rich resource for English teachers involved in acronym salad: ESL, TESL, TESOL, TEFL, EFL... The site offers loads of free lessons, techniques, tips, games, jokes, links, activities and other resources for English teachers. Though mainly for teachers, this site also has an excellent list of links for students learning English as well.

  • The Linguist on Language Podcast - Steve Kaufmann does a lot of work to help folks learn English, as well as other languages. This podcast offers a lot of info about techniques and ideas for learning English more quickly and effectively. Most of the content in the podcasts can be applied to learning any language. Kaufmann has a lot of experience with this process - he speaks nine languages.
  • languagecaster.com Learn English through Soccer/Football Podcast - A really cool idea that is very well done and ideal for intermediate to advanced learners of the English language. The podcasts are interesting (especially to football/soccer fans) and they come with worksheets, transcripts, vocabulary lists and more. There is truly a lot of useful quality content in these podcasts and associated learning materials.
  • Breaking News English EFL/ESL Learning Podcast - Quite a nice production! This is a really good concept: taking the latest news and making not only a podcast about it, but also creating thorough worksheets, practice materials and quizzes. Bravo to Sean Banville for a job well done! Loads of work is obviously put into each lesson.
  • The Rob and Bob Show English Lessons Podcast - This podcast is well done and, as you can read above, has some interesting aspects given that the hosts speak British English and North American English. This is great for intermediate to advanced learners of the English language who are interested in getting exposure to both of these English "dialects".
  • English Feed English Listening Practice Podcast - There is a lot of great listening practice to be had with this podcast. Great for intermediate and above learners of the English language.
  • Podictionary English Dictionary Podcast - This is a well-produced podcast about English words. This is a great podcast for intermediate to advanced learners of the English language. You can use this podcast to learn new vocabulary words on-the-go.
  • Listen to English-Learn English Podcast - This podcast has loads of good content to work with. It is an excellent resource for intermediate to advanced English learners looking for interesting listening materials accompanied by transcriptions of the spoken text.
  • Effortless English Podcast Gives Automatic English for the People - This is a well-done podcast for intermediate to advanced learners of the English language. Currently, this podcast is being updated about every couple of weeks.
  • BetteratEnglish.com Better at English ESL/EFL Podcast for Real People - This is by far one of the most popular of the available podcasts for learning English. The content is interesting, the updates are frequent and the site has a feel of being very alive and active. An excellent overall resource.
