About Pierre-Emmanuel

***Please read before booking a lesson***

I am from Montreal, Quebec and I study translation at Université de Montréal. I have been teaching French on italki for more than two years and I enjoy it a lot. I get to know people from all around the world, share my culture with them and learn about theirs.

My own language learning experience (have a look at my "user profile"!) helps me better understand the challenges faced by learners of French. I know learning a foreign language isn't easy and that's why I'm always very patient with my students.

I enjoy playing music (guitar & accordion), reading (French/German/Russian/Icelandic literature) and traveling. I'm sure we'll find some common interests and have interesting conversations!

*(Free resources to complement the lessons can be found on*

=> I am a "community tutor", not a "professional tutor". Community tutors offer conversation practice while professional tutors provide organized courses and learning material. I am always very happy to explain grammatical concepts to my students and give them free exercises, but I prefer not to spend 60 minutes talking about grammar. Besides, putting the emphasis on conversation is a fun and efficient way to learn :-)

=> Many students ask me if I can help them correct texts they've written and explain to them their mistakes. I think it's a great way to learn! Send me your text before the class, I'll have a look at it and we'll correct it together.

=> If you want to cancel or postpone a lesson, send me a message *before* it starts! It doesn't matter if it's a week before or just 15 minutes, but if you don't give any sign of life until after the lesson, you'll have to pay for it - I'm sure you understand why.

=> If you have any other questions, just send me a message!
