I was born and raised in the US, but was always interested in other languages and cultures. I began learning Japanese when I was 13 years old and went on to major in Asian Studies in university. I spent time studying in Japan and China, and after graduating I moved to Taiwan where I spent a year teaching English. I then spent 3 years teaching in Japan, and one year living in France as an au pair. I speak fluent Japanese and French, as well as conversational Mandarin and Russian.
I can help anyone who wants to practice speaking English. I know how to interact with learners, and I've often been told by students that I'm good at explaining things clearly. I can also help beginning to intermediate learners of Japanese. I have a very good understanding of the language and culture due to years of using the language and living in Japan, and I'm able to explain things like grammatical concepts from an English-speaking perspective. You can see me as a sort of guide or mentor-- someone who's gone from where you are right now to mastering the Japanese language. If I could do it, there's no reason why you can't!
I've dedicated much of my life to learning languages and learning *how* to learn languages, so I can also suggest learning strategies, techniques, and materials.
