About Profe CordovaI have a Master of Arts in Humanities with a concentration in Spanish literature. I have studied at the undergraduate and graduate level Spanish language and literature, as well as teaching methodologies and pedagogy. For the past fifteen years I have been successfully teaching Spanish at the community college and university level. I have also taught Spanish at the Middle School and elementary level and work as a private tutor of Spanish. Besides my teaching responsibilities, I mentor other adjunct faculty, assist faculty with technologies to support their teaching, and most recently served as Interim Program Manager for Foreign Languages at a community college. My philosophy of teaching includes a concern for each student, a belief in a positive student-teacher relationship for learning to occur, and a conviction in the possibility of success of every student. I set high expectations and encourage and support my students' learning. I believe teachers should create a positive non-threatening learning environment in which students feel comfortable enough to take risks, interact with classmates and instructor, participate actively, and ask for assistance. The lessons I use are innovative and creative, engage and motivate students, encourage active participation, develop critical thinking skills, and provide students with every opportunity for success. I am very knowledgeable in various teaching strategies and implement technology in my lessons to stimulate interest and enhance learning. My personal attributes include dedication, dependability, organizational skills, and conscientiousness. I am responsible, highly motivated, hardworking, and passionate about teaching and learning. Also, I demonstrate good interpersonal and leadership skills, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and a concern for all students.
