About Diana1. How would you describe your teaching style? I think my teaching style is causal, easygoing and interesting. 2.How do you teach in your lessons? It depends. If he/she is a beginner then I have my own unique way to teach him/her. If he/she is of middle level then I've four types of courses: The fist one is talking an interesting topic (it helps students a lot in oral Chinese) The second one is translation：it will help the students to learn about the grammar and the sequence of Chinese language。 The material would be some interesting stories and humors. At first, I let the students to translate the material by them. Meanwhile, I point out the mistakes and help them to speak the right sentences. At the second time, I will let them translate all by themselves. And lastly, the third time, I ask them to recite. The advantage of doing this：on the one hand, it can help them to build up the confidence about the feelings of language after doing the same thing for three times. On the other hand, they can tell the interesting stories and humors to other people as an ice break after learning them by heart. The third one is watching the TV programs. We will see different TV programs depend on their different levels. I ask them to describe the scene (lower level) and tell me about what happened in the program or what did the speaker say (higher level). Doing this could improve their listening skill and let them know about the Chinese culture and what the Chinese people are doing now. The fourth one is reading. I think listening and speaking must be learnt first. After having some basic knowledge about listening and speaking students can be able to read some materials depending on their level. 3.Do you feel comfortable to teach beginners? What are the some strategies do you use with beginners? I feel comfortable and really excited when working with beginners. I’d love to work with beginners because I have special ways to teach absolute beginners.
