About Eric

Hi! My name is Eric and I’m an American business consultant and entrepreneur. I continue to teach English online after five years because it is a great privilege to be surrounded by so many exciting people and cultures. I take pride in seeing students become more confident and successful as a result of our lessons, often leading directly to new jobs or promotions. My students include executives, journalists, diplomats, entrepreneurs, engineers, consultants, graduate students, and others from more than 40 countries worldwide. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Beloit College and am completing my Master’s degree at the Central European University in Hungary.

During our first lesson, expect me to ask many questions to understand your speaking level and to make sure that our lessons are relevant to your learning goals. I also want to know whether to keep our lessons light and conversational (travel, culture, news, politics, movies, food, etc.) or industry-specific (technical vocabulary). My goal is to help you take control of the lessons and start becoming the teacher. The more I know about your passions and expertise, the more I can help you forget your nervousness and achieve fluency.

Learning Arabic has helped me become deeply aware of the challenges that language learners face. I work hard to keep our lessons engaging and to pay careful attention to when students need “tough love” or encouragement. If you are committed to our lessons, I will do everything that I can to help you succeed. For students seeking help preparing for job interviews or major presentations, this is my greatest strength as a teacher. I ask tough questions, help you prepare a compelling narrative, and will gladly put in extra effort to help you achieve your goal.

Lastly, I encourage students to ask about partnering with me to organize structured group courses. These are affordable for all involved and I greatly enjoy designing the curriculum.
