I am a passionate communicator, teacher / trainer and published writer. I enjoy meeting and talking to people from around the world. I divide my time between online and face to face teaching, and have students from many different countries and backgrounds, including children, university students, business professionals and retired people. I really enjoy the work, and feel a great sense of satisfaction when students make progress towards their chosen goals which may include improving their writing, reducing their accent, speaking more fluently or passing a test.
I am CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) qualified and I also have a general certificate for the Teaching of Adults. My original degree is in Psychology with Health Science. I have many years’ experience in business, including working in Sales and Marketing, Consultancy, training, and various management posts.
After training as an English teacher I worked in a language school in Oxford, which was very interesting, and provided me with some great experience. Since then I have been working as a freelance teacher, mainly teaching business people who have relocated to the UK with their companies. I have been doing online teaching for a year now, and I think it is a great way to teach.
I like to find out about students' goals; why they are learning English, what level they want to reach, and then help them to achieve those goals. Every class is different, which is the great benefit of working with one student at a time.
In addition to teaching English I also offer proof-reading and editing services.
I am an active member of my local drama group, and belong to a writer's circle, and to Toastmasters International.
I look forward to meeting you.
