I was born in Amsterdam, where I have lived almost all my life. In 2006 I moved to Greece. I have a technical background, but I have been studying and teaching languages as a hobby for many years. In 2010 I left my IT career to become a full time teacher. Most of the time I give private lessons for High School students and adults.
My teaching approach differs from student to student. At the end of the first lesson I usually have a good picture of the starting level and the goals of the student and how he or she likes to learn a language. My approach is always customised. I never work just from one book or course. Over the years I have created my own material. For every lesson I make a program for which I gather the material, from my own archive, from books and articles, from recorded speech and tests. Teaching a language is based on building up a personal relationship, which you use to introduce the student to the culture, the history, but above all the language of the country.
