FAQ About Myself and My Lessons

Q: Who am I?
A: I am a Japanese teacher who hold a B. Arts in Lang & Ling. / B. Ed (LOTE) and I have tutoring experience to secondary, tertiary and adult learners.

Q: What is the difference between informal tutoring and professional lessons here?
A: I would like to use Informal tutoring as the place to practise speaking Japanese. There are no textbooks or planned topics. So, we will talk about anything we are interested in within the relaxed environment. I am happy to work with students of all abilities from beginner to advance. However, I recommend it to intermediate+ learners, who are comfortable to converse only in Japanese, because beginners often comment my Japanese is too fast.

Q: What textbooks are used for the professional lessons?
A: Most materials are with English explanation.
・Absolute beginners: “KONNICHI WA”.
・ General Japanese for all levels: “Genki(1st ed.)”, “みんなの日本語”, "Japanese for Busy People I", “日本のくらしと文化”, etc. If students do not have any learning material, I will provide them.
・ One-on-One Tutoring: Upon Students’ Request
I am flexible to follow students’ existing course books or to plan and provide materials based on their requests. However, I will request to share the information with students if I do not hold the textbook. I am also happy to assist with: Homework/Assignments, Proof Reading/Reviewing, Preparation for examinations, etc.
・時事日本語:No set textbooks, but news paper articles and/or worksheets are used.

Q: What languages are used during the lessons?
A: My native tongue is Japanese, but because I am qualified and practised teaching Japanese in Australia, I am more comfortable to explain Japanese in English. However, I can make lessons only in Japanese upon students’ request.
