My father has always told me, "No man was ever self-made." He could never stress to me enough how someone made a difference in my life to get my where I am today. Because of his example, I dedicated my life to becoming a teacher. I wanted to leave my mark on the lives of my students just like others had done for me. With that ambition, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a major in Elementary Education. While in college, I made the Dean's List each semester I attended and graduated with summa cum laude honors.
For the past six years, I have had the privilege of tutoring and mentoring underprivileged children and adults who are learning English as a second language. I've helped my students with phonics, reading, grammar, and pronunciation. During the week, I teach fifth grade at an inner-city school where my students are affectionately called, "my children." I love seeing them reach their goals and succeed in every day life. On the weekends, I am a spirit leader who mentors young college girls with their teaching skills and encourage them to reach out to the less fortunate in the Chicago-land area.
Recently, I began my own journey of learning a second language. I believe striving to learn a new language has further helped me have a greater understanding and passion for those learning a new language. Therefore, I would love to be your teacher and help you become a greater reader, writer, and speaker of the English language.
