I'm already proficient in English and working as an English teacher in my home country (Greece), but my contact with native speakers of the language is really limited; So, I'd like to keep up with the language in terms or oral communication and work on my accent a little bit. I'd rather talk to American native speakers because the (standard) American accent is easier for me.
I've also decided to start formal lessons in French in my homeplace, but maybe italki platform would also be a good place for speaking practice. I've done French for 6 years at school but I really didn't have any practice when I finished (which seems ages ago) so I'll be a very elementary user now. Same with Italian.
I've always wanted to work as a translator so I want to perfect my command of (at least) a second language, other than English, and pursue another career, ideally in the translation area. I also love movie subtitling.
I'd be mainly interested in language partners, where I could give information about my own country, language and culture and I'd gain speaking practice in English. I've always wanted to travel to the US, so I'll enjoy anything I can learn about this country from the people who live there (at least, anything I don't know already from loads of movies I've watched, if we consider these accurate!)
