I am looking for a language exchange partner. I did the earlier parts of my schooling in France, and the others split between Belgium, Ireland (Junior Certificate/Leaving Certificate) and the UK (Msc). I am currently working in London and even though French is my mother tongue, I sometimes find conversing in English more natural. However I am happy conversing in either.
Regarding my Mandarin level, I got my HSK (汉语水平考试) Lv1 in October 2012. I would like to take both Lv2 and Lv3 in 2013. However those tests mainly focus on reading and listening, so I am looking to invest some time and effort in bringing my speaking level up a notch. I am hoping the community on italki will help me develop the confidence to speak Mandarin (and be understood!).
As for why I am learning Mandarin, it is because it is the English of the East. And as I hope to take my wife back to Asia, knowing Mandarin will make it much easier to work there.
