Let's see...
The first K-drama I stumbled upon was Soulmate. I was walking past the tv when I heard a song I recognized, Come On (Sket Remix) by Dutch Rhythm Combo. I was shocked. I had been trying to find that song for years!
After looking up who sang the song, I looked up the name of the drama that featured it. Soon after learning that it was called Soulmate, I discovered that I could watch Korean dramas online. I watched the whole series from beginning to end and absolutely loved it! I think it's worth mentioning that the soundtrack is great, too ;)
So that is what sparked my interest in Korean drama shows.
Since watching Soulmate, I've learned a lot about Korean culture in general. Like so many others, Korean dramas sparked an interest in me that eventually lead to seeking out resources to learn the Korean language. I found a lot of materials online to help with my language studies and I think that watching the dramas keeps me engaged and motivated.
My goal is to understand enough to be able to watch a show, and know what's going on, without having to rely so much on subtitles. I recently learned the Hangul alphabet and am learning to read and write Hangul. Currently, I am making flashcards to help with studying. I am interested in improving my Korean language skills so I look forward to learning by connecting with others.
I want to meet Korean language students and native speakers for language exchange on Skype.
To Korean language students ~ don't worry if you don't speak Korean well. We can learn together.
