Pardon me a moment-
(HEY!!! YOU REALIZE THIS IS NOT A DATING SITE, RIGHT? THIS SITE IS FOR TALKING ABOUT LANGUAGE. GO AWAY IF YOU CAN"T UNDERSTAND THIS.)
Sorry about that! I've been very bothered lately with people who don't bother to read. You, my friend, who are interested in talking about language and dialect, you are welcome.
Hello!
I don't use MSN or Skype and I don't give out email, sorry. But I do like hearing from friends around the world.
I love languages, they are like music. I also love poetry. I like talking about language, because it makes me think about how language works. I also like discussing meanings, because a lot of subtle things are communicated by the words you choose.
I think learning and understanding informal english and slang is important, because it's how people actually talk. I like talking about slang and dialect, both what it means and also what it conveys about the person speaking. These are things everyone should understand, whether or not the textbook says it is 'right'.
I think English makes a mistake by not acknowledging that we have dialects. Spoken English is very different than written English, and people speak English differently depending on region and social class. Even written English varies greatly depending on where the writing will appear.
If you want to message me I'll write back when I have time.
