Hi my name is Marcus. Back in 2008, I lived in China and taught English at a middle school. It was an unforgettable experience for me and I have had a keen interest in China and Chinese culture ever since. I am really keen to make some real Chinese friends as it helps me considerably when learning Mandarin.
I have been studying Mandarin since 2007. I haven’t been studying it full-time, but have done a lot of self-study by listening to audio lessons, attending classes and doing things like listening to Chinese music and movies. I really enjoy watching movies in Mandarin.
I speak to lots of people on Skype and have enjoyed some really deep conversations regarding Chinese culture and the differences between it and western culture. I know quite a lot of Mandarin but am really bad at speaking using it, and despite several years learning it, feel like I have barely scratched the surface.
