Teaching is exciting to me! Upon my enrollment in a private college in 1995, I began my studies to earn a teaching degree. During my 5 years of college I enjoyed teaching a weekly class of 28 first grade students and was given an exceptional letter of reference for my accomplishments with this group. My internship took place in 1999, and my college thesis also received marks of excellent acheivement from the professor of Advanced English Grammar and Composition. Shortly after my graduation I accepted a postition as an interpreter in local schools using ASL, and have interpreted for the deaf for nine years. In addition, I have also studied Japanese and have spent two months in Japan observing the language and culture. I would classify myself as a beginner in this extensive language. Currently, I tutor a kindergarten student in phonics, reading, and math, and spend time working as the editor of a small magazine.
