I have read a romance short story “阿绣” in the classical Chinese novel “Strange Tales”, and I love it. I would like to share it with you.
This is a moving romance between a fox spirit and a human. In traditional Chinese mythologies, fox spirits are generally regarded as iconic enchantresses of cruelty that seduce men into committing crimes and being gruesome brutes. However, in many of the stories in “Strange Tales”, fox spirits are kind, nice and open-minded beauties with heroic spirits. The fox spirit in “阿绣” is such a character. She truly loved a man, appeared in his life when he was in despair, and helped him accomplish his goals for many times. She even saved the life of her rival in love, another girl, and eventually helped the couple get married.
It is really a pleasure to tell this beautiful story. I have been telling this story in this website. It has been adapted and divided into several parts. Each part lasts about 5 minutes. I sincerely hope that you like this story.
