I desire to use italki to help learn and experience a second language with other people, which would be great considering I do not live in a place where Polish (My desired secondary language) is spoken widely (At all, actually.). My reasons for wanting to learn Polish are many, but the most important ones are from sincere interest in one day having a way of deepening my insight and adaptability to the country's presence, history and people -- the most rudimentary and obvious way to begin that journey would be to learn the language.
I come from a small town here in the United States. There's nothing spectacular about the way I grew up or anything of that nature. I did grow to be a travel-hungry adult. This has led me to see several places here in the U.S. and I eventually had the desire and opporunity to move to Europe for a brief period. I only stayed in Ireland, in and around Dublin, but met a lot of Polish folks there that sparked and fueled my desire to learn their language.
