Hello! I'm Violet. I'm born and raised in Zhejiang, China, a place famous for its tea and bamboo. I have travelled to South Korea and the UK. I really enjoy travelling abroad and experience new cultures. In my spare time I sometimes play the ukulele and take photos. I watch a lot of cooking videos, too. As a language lover, I‘m learning English and Japanese. To me, nothing is more enjoyable than using a foreign language to explore a whole new world!

I worked as an English teacher and a Chinese teacher. I like being with my students , exploring the language together, and watch them improving their language skills little by little.
As an passionate language learner, I've been very curious about languages and have asked all kinds of questions. I would be really glad to hear my students' questions and to answer them. I also understand the questions and problems that language learners encounter because I have gone through the same situation, and therefore can offer help.

Here are two types of lessons.
If you want to practise conversation, you can choose the conversation practice lesson. You can bring the topics you want to talk about, or we can have casual talk. I will correct your pronunciation and your grammar mistakes, and listen for the expressions that sound strange to native speakers. In addition, I can introduce you Chinese culture, what Chinese people are thinking, and tell about Chinese society.
会話練習では、好きなトピックでもいいですし、雑談でもいいです。発音と文法のミス、不自然な言い方を訂正します。
If you want to learn Chinese, you can choose the Chinese learning course, where we will learn new vocab and grammar, and will do practice.
勉強レッスンでは、新しい単語や文法。

I felt really comfortable talking with Violet, and even though I still have my 我不知道 moments, she explains or repeats herself well so we can move on gracefully. Coming out of a time when I haven't been feeling really confident speaking/using Chinese, I feel like Violet is the perfect fit right for me now. :)

Since I haven't actively studied as much as of late, I was a bit nervous in getting back into Chinese, but Violet made me feel really comfortable and encouraged me to speak. Overall, a nice first lesson. I hope to continue. :)

Violet was very encouraging and supported my learning. She was very patient and taught me a lot of new words that I didn't already know. She helped me find new books I could read for the HSK and was very knowledgeable about what level HSK I could do. Unfortunately, she didn't allow recording but I felt I didn't need it as she typed all the new vocabulary I didn't know through the italki chat. Violet knows a lot about the Chinese language and its culture. She also knows the cultural differences between different parts of China and Taiwan. She was very punctual as well. Lessons started on time. There was no technical difficulties and her internet connection was great so there was no stuttering in the video. All in all, Violet is a great teacher and I hope to work with her more in the future.
