Yesterday my roommate made delicious barbecue pork with honey sauce and clam soup, which was a great experience for me. Actually, I don't like sweets very much, because too much sugar makes my stomach uncomfortable. But not this honey pork, whose perfect sweetness gave my taste buds a clear sense of how delicious it was bursting on the tongue, while the fresh fragrant soup helped offset some of the fat. I know in Chinese it’s common to say 肚子不舒服, and while ‘it makes my stomach uncomfortable’ isn’t exactly incorrect in English, it’s much more natural to say ‘it upsets my stomach.’ Also, if we say ‘sweets’ in English, usually we are referring to chocolate or candies or maybe occasionally even some cake or cookies or something. We wouldn’t use this word for what is technically still classed as a savoury dish (because it’s BBQd pork), so here I have changed that to ‘sweet things’. I hope my suggestions help.
