Would you correct my article?? Some parents teach their children at home rather
than sending them to school. Is this a good or a bad thing for the child? The
importance of going to school. (do you mean ‘going to school is important’, or is this an introduction sentence?) In the past it was pretty (pretty is absolutely correct but ‘quite’ is more commonly used) common that parents
taught their children at home rather than sending them to school. Nowadays, the
importance of sending children to school has grown, since school is more
than a place where children can build their knowledge. First of all, having
parents as teachers is not good since parents are not capable enough of
teaching all the subjects that are taught at schools. Moreover, children are
familiar with/used to be around their parents so they cannot take them seriously. Secondly, the
most important thing that children learn at school is how to relate with other
people. They build their character making friends with their schoolmates. The
relationships of their childhood have a huge impact on their future. Last but
not least, going to school is also an opportunity to become independent. Every year,
schools organise lots of school trips that give the children the
opportunity to travel without parents, and open their minds. In conclusion, I
think that school years are a very important part of people’s lives and
nothing can replace them.
