Hi Mando,

I am a native Spanish speaker and I also find difficult to talk to native English speakers. The fact that there are more people studying English than any other language, makes it more difficult.

However, I am sure that if you write an entry in the Notebook section, it will be correct by someone who's speaks English. In fact, when I correct entries in the Notebook section I am not bothered about the language the other person is talking, I correct it and hope the  other person will find my corrections useful.

Nevertheless, if you send a private message to someone it might not be so easy to get an answer. In my case, I don't reply to most of private messages because they just want to have a chat, they are asking me to teach them Spanish but they don't have a particular question to ask me and they don't speak English or they are people who haven't been very active in italki (they haven't written entries) so it makes me think they are not so interested in learning languages.

There might be many reasons but as I said to you, if you really need help and you write a question in the answer section or the notebook, I bet you will get useful comments and corrections.

Good luck! :)

There are not so many English-speaking people here who want to learn Arabic.

There are some dubious accounts, but not generally those of English speakers.

I would echo what Laura has said about messages.  If someone asks me to help them learn English, I ask them to write something for correction on Notebook.  This gives me an idea of their level, and whether they could hold a conversation, and it also lets me see how serious they are about the language.  Most of those I have replied to in this way have not responded.

In response to Mando, the best way to derive benefit from the site is to take advantage of the opportunity to have your written work corrected.  If you can afford it, take lessons from one of the many tutors available, some of whom charge very reasonable prices and, in time, and if you are fortunate, you may find a good language partner.

I believe they're not completely fake accounts. It's a possibility that most English speakers you messaged are not interested in learning Arabic just like what Adrian said.

A tip, maybe it would help you if you look for people who wants to learn Arabic and speaks English well then message those specific accounts. :)

I can only tell you my motivation for learning a language, which is to communicate with people in person. Because I will be spending the next few years in China, I am interested in learning Mandarin. When I was living in Thailand I studied Thai. I think Adrian might be right, there might just not be as many English speakers who are motivated to learn Arabic as there are to learn another language on the site.

Hope you find a language partner soon.
