Anyone speak Ilonggo/Hiligaynon?

Hello! I just discovered Italki, so I'm a bit new here. I'm looking for anyone who speaks Ilonggo/Hiligaynon, who could help me become more comfortable with it, and teach me how to understand spoken Ilonggo, and help me learn to speak it myself. My fiance's family is from Bacolod, and I would love to be a better conversationalist when they're talking, and not only understand when they speak English. I would love to be able to communicate in their native language as well. Please can anyone help?

Thanks,

DS

Sir! It's an honor to help you. I know how to speak Ilonggo. Actually, I'm an Ilonggo and I'm living in an Ilonggo cradle. :)

I do! If you'd like to ask me some basic questions, just PM me and I'll help you out. However, the best way to learn conversational Ilonggo would be to talk on Skype. For that, you can just purchase sessions in any language and I'll work on a curricullum for you based on what you want to learn.

Hi!  I don't think you will find learning resources for Hiligaynon or Ilonggo anywhere outside of the Philippines.  It is one of the dialects in Western Visayas. I speak the dialect of Eastern Visayas and it is similar and I understand Hiligaynon/Ilonggo. Dialects in the Philippines are very rare and not easy to learn.  I don't recall anyone ever really study a dialect.  We just pick-up the words in conversations. The Giant Ilonggo Phrasebook sold at Amazon will at least help you get by in Ilonggo.

Additionally, why not ask your fiancée to teach you?
