the best teachers are those who show you where to look, but do not tell you what to see :)

I agree with this statement. Whenever I see people expecting others doing their homework I get quiet annoyed because there won't be any learning process by doing that, whereas if you do your homework (make the effort) and ask people to correct it, you will realize where you were wrong and why.

I think it is important to be given the tools to get something but not the key.

Teachers can also render students a better space to learn new things and develop their intelligence and they had better not do too much intervention to their learning course. I believe students may find their ways sooner or later.  The key role of educators at present has been changing enormously as the current technology is moving.

I may express a little different thought from yours. I probably prefer my teachers can guide me to a more convenient way to accumulate my knowledge promptly instead of just telling me where to go. If a teacher cannot give me clear instruction in the future, I would be probably unable to trust his teaching. In other words, if a teacher cannot have better vision than me, why I have to trust him? Pretty much as a lighthouse lighting up the dark night on the sea so that a teacher must have broad view with great vision. That is what I am looking forward to.

Since the advent of computers and internet few decades ago, the current education has been modified hugely and seemingly online class is much more useful than learning in the campus. There is no doubt online searching can give students more support to critical thinking and active learning when they need evidence to approve their thinking whereas rote learning at an understanding level still takes a role in the acquisition of knowledge.
