Songs?? I don't totally agree with this. In my opinion listening to music is not a good technique to learn a language. Don't get me wrong, you can learn some new words singing but sometimes believe me there are a lot of nonsense songs so even if you try to understand the meaning of a sentence your time would be sadly wasted. If you really want to gain confidence with any language you have to LIVE the language. Surround your environment, feel the language scent when you pronounce a phrase. Here's a quote I hope you got it: "when you in Rome do as Romans do" You know what I mean?
You can start watching cartoons if you are a beginner.
Monologues or classic books don't work if not for other reason that when you have a conversation you set an interaction of two or more people and for nobody speaks like shakespeare and Dante Alighieri in the real life.
Do you like some actor, youtuber, showman etc? well you should try mimic him/her this is working with me a lot, a lot a lot.
