What do you think is the best way to great someone in Arabic?

I'm curious, what is the best way to say hello to someone in Arabic? Would you say Marhaba or Assalam Alaikum or something else? And does your greeting change depending on who you are talking to?

It depends on the country, here in Tunisia for example we say " Asslama" but we also use "Assalamou aalaykom" or simply "Salam".. I think you can say "Asalamou aalaykom" pretty much anywhere

it depends on which country u r too , for exemple , the standard way of saying hello is assalamu alaykom , but not all arabs are muslims so u can say  marhaba , but some countries do not say marhaba , they use other words ,bcuz after all there r different accents and dialect , but u can just stick to assalamu alaykom or marhaba

Hello and Merry Christmas, about saying hello in Egypt we use (Ezzayak) or (aamel eh) however all Arabian say (asaslam alaikum) which it means (Peace be with you) ,and it depends on where you are from in fact in a conversation i would understand you if you said any of those but the most common is (ezzayak aamel eh) if u said marhaba,i would say that you are in an 'Arabic exam' here in Arabian world we don't talk like that simply we say assalam alaikum it's better to say as u see most arabian world is muslim so this is the greetings to us :D

Assalamu'Alaykum is the Islamic greeting. So we great a muslim with Assalamu'alaykum and marhaba said to someone else.
