Wendy
A Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo

Recently,I watched two Spanish movies:A Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo and Tengo Ganas De Ti.
Honestly,I didn't hear of much about Spanish movies, especially under the powerful influence of American movies.Personally,I found this series are very different, which explores the meaning of family, friendship and relationship.
So,could you recommend me more Spanish movies?I think via movies,I can grab more Spanish culture and values.Gracias!

Hi Wendy, you should watch "El secreto de sus ojos" (The secret in their eyes), it's an Argentine movie and it's pretty good.

¡Saludos! :)

PD: "La isla mínima / Marshland" is also a very good thriller, set in Spain during the early 80's and with breathtaking landscapes. U can check it out too

你好Wendy

Those two movies u mention were big hits here in Spain (even tho Spanish people normally prefer foreign movies), prolly because they feature some teenage idols like Mario Casas (who is basically a pretty face, with very limited acting skills...), and they present a classic romance story (a nice & posh girl in love with a bad boy, who isn't that bad in reality... how original xD).

If you like romantic comedies you can check out "8 Apellidos Vascos" and its sequel "8 Apellidos Catalanes" (that will be available in two months or so), very sucessful too, although both are overrated in my opinion. Probably the most interestic aspect is the fact that they address some cultural differences between the north and the south of Spain (I live in the north and I can easily recognize some clichés and stereotypes presented). To my view, there's a film which is even better, "Airbag", a big hit in 1997 and a cult movie nowadays. A mix between road-movie and crime-comedy, and it also addresses some stereotypes (Basque, Galicians, and Portuguese people), mocks politicians, cops, and other institutions (which gives it a touch of transgression), and has many memorable moments (the Galician gangster, Pazos, is easily the best character in the movie). I think it's available with English subtitles somewhere.

If you are into thrillers (no horror) u can check out the following films:

- La caja 507
- Celda 211
- El niño
- No habrá paz para los malvados
- Los cronocrímenes (this one has a touch of science-fiction)

来自阿斯图里亚斯的问候! :)
