Handmade gifts

What do you think about the handmade gifts?
Do you make such gifts for your friends? Do you like receiving them?

Some people think that a handmade gift shows the person for whom the gift is that you invested some of your free time and efforts thinking about them while making the present. Others think that if you are not very handy, after a certain age you are not supposed to make such gifts. Some might even think that this is just a cheaper way to prepare a gift for someone, especially if you give it on a special occasion and it's made with the materials at hand.

I’m curious about your opinion. :)

The same is with handwriting letters...because of technology it is almost forgotten, and I feel sorry about it because even if I was not able to receive such, I appreciate letters more than messages. It is easy to type a message but handwriting letter has more feelings and it's unique because every person has different manuscript.

Thanks for sharing your opinions! :)

Handmade gifts are very special to me too, but I rarely receive such gifts. Sometimes we forget what the meaning of a gift is and that the gesture is what matters.

It is not cheap at all,it shows how much that person means to you. The gift is a gift and as they say in french "le geste qui compte".

I knit for people I love, and it is not cheap at all. However, the fact that some people would appreciate more than just buying gifts is also depend on the cultural side. Some people would prefer something practical instead of sentimental stuffs. Handmade gifts are very personal, there's research about it and we should know when and to whom to give handmade gifts.
