How to write love in sanskrit?

Hi there.

I got a tattoo a year ago, and I had contact with someone that knew Sanskrit and told me it was correct. After reading more online, I have realized that the symbol I have is not even common.

I am devastated and I am sure it doesn't even mean love :(

Could you please help me? If you click on the link, you will see what symbol I got tattooed in Sanskrit. It's the first one, love.

PLEASE TELL ME IT MEANS SOMETHING!

I studied Sanskrit in my school but now, I forgot almost everything:) But yes, लव doesn't mean Love. It means to get or receive or obtain. The two words mentioned by Sriniketha are acceptable for Love but I don't think these are cool for a tattoo.:)

प्रीतिः (Preetihi) is the correct translation of Love in sanskrit. Of course, it is one of the meaning.
अनुराग: (Anuraagaha) or प्रेम: (Premaha) are some more synonyms.

लव?
I don't know Sanscrit. As I can see it is English words 'love' ('pease', friendship' etc.) transcribed in Devanagari. Devanagari is the name of alphabet (not language).
Sanscrit has a number of words which can (loosely?) be translated this way (I even rememebr a couple of them). But I don't think any of them is 'love' or "lava'.

Now, judjing from what i see having typed this (लव) in google images, modern Indians do use this word in Devanagari. I suppose the texts i see there are in Hindi? Seems like they occasionaly use an English word. I really hope some Indians here wil explain to which extent and when:)

Also if you really need soemthing more ancient, there was an epic character named लव :
