Why do you want to learn French ? / Pourquoi vous voulez apprendre el Fransa ?

I'm just wondering cuz I'm amazed at how many people
are wanting to learn French (sometimes as a second language).

Is it a cultural thing you've heard, a work related necessity
an artist you've seen etc ?

Just to put things into perspectives, I found that being a
French Native Speakers has never been an asset as far
as I can remember. Maybe it has to do with the fact that
we are 7 milions French Canadians among 250 milions
English speaking people.

Funny fact, I'm part of a Band with 4 others people from
France and sometimes we can't even understand each
others' french héhé.

So yeah I'm curious to hear about you all.
Enweillez !

haha I never wanted to learn French and honestly never thought it was beautiful (sorry =D ) BUT yesterday I watched a French TV program (translated into my language) about ballet dancers - and 1) they ALL were so good-looking (even middle-aged women with no make-up), 2) when little kids spoke French, their mother tongue, I was suddenly amazed at how CHARMING they sounded - after that I was like... wow, maybe there IS something about France and French =))) so yeah, I changed my mind =D

I would be as well curious for the reason. I live in Slovakia, country where we speak slavic language and every world language is for us as foreign. People in our country have possibility to choose english or german as the most popular and usable in their life. Second option is then not so clear - either spanish, french or russian. I think these are the most popular. From my point of view people choose their foreign language by their interrest to travel, live or for their work. If you live in country where you speak english as the first language, then I can imagine you are living on America continent and want to travel. From the movies it seems that the highest dream for an american is to see Europe. And what to see different then Paris and France? :)

The rrason is that there are many people who want to move to Quebec. In my case, I like the language and getting a PhD in France is more affordable than in my country

Honestly, as a person who wants to learn french, I think wanting to learn french is more of just wanting to learn it. In my case, I want to live somewhere in France so first i need to learn the language. Also since it is such a beautiful language, and it is considered one of the easiest languanges to learn, it is just something people want to aspire to learn.
