Social networks

Hello,  everybody!

Don't you think that most people, participating in social networks,  like Facebook, are, deep down, lonely persons, not having friends and suffering from lack of communication ?

It really depends on how often someone uses social media and/or what they use it for. People who post on Facebook or Instagram 40 times a day and obsessively check to see how much "likes" they can get from strangers or people they barely know might have a problem. However, there are also plenty of people who use social media to connect with friends and family (especially those who live far away) and still have a good, healthy social life.

In a way, I do understand what you are talking about, Michael. I have a few friends on Facebook who post statuses every single day. They often just talk about their lives and their opinions on things. That's not really a problem if it's done occasionally, but these people post on Facebook many, many times a day. I also know that they don't have a lot of friends in real life, so it seems like social media is the only place where they can find people who will listen to them.

In general, however, we should not make a sweeping conclusion about every single person who uses social media. As others have said before, almost everyone has a social media account nowadays. Some are able to enhance their social life and connect with people in a healthy way. Others are not. Everyone is different.

Nearly everyone I know uses Facebook. I think it's a mistake to make any sweeping generalizations like that. Different people use social networks differently. I just used Facebook earlier today to organize a dinner with some friends.

Thank you very much,  Overbyen! You understood me perfectly! I  was talking about people who cannot disconnect themselves from social networks.  They prefer this kind of communication,  rather than talking face to face. It seems to me like some sort of virtual life that hasn't much to do with the real life.

When i was a child there no internet. And relationship we created was real. We used to play outside real games. We were honest with themselves and our friends. We loved honestly and honestly hated.

It was REAL life. And it does not exist anymore. I am looking at my boy spending his time communicating with his friends over internet, playing games over internet. He seems happy with it. I am not saying he is wrong. I am just saying, that I don't understand it. Obviously, this is nowardays life. I don't understand, but respect it.

I do not think as you. Maybe a person has a lot of friends in real life, he communicates with many people, nevertheless he feels lonely. Even any social network can not help in this case, if a people does not satisfied with themselves.
