Allo Emma,
I'm french Canadian and Dyslexic. By my experiance personal, I can not to learn the english in the class because we are to much and I need more time that other student. The professor can not to take of time with juste one student.
I tried the private teacher in my town, but I do not find the good one for me. Because, the structure is very important for me, (see the word, hearing, speaking and writing)
the professors said, we need speaking juste speaking. But I tried it and is not easy for me.
The solution is the immersion in english, but I do not have a time.
Now, I tried 3 teachers until now on Italki. I did not find the right professor, but we have many choice on Italki. I will try an other professor in august.
It's a great site for dyslexia, for those who would like to know about learning disabilities :

Sorry for my English ;-)
have a good day
Thanks so much Phil! Just to clarify:
"Some difficulties" would be that I actually find it very difficult to decipher how the sounds fit into letters. As well as being visual, Dyslexia also really effects phonological understanding, thus making it difficult to sound out words, and understand how to differentiate sounds. For example, I have beyond horrific pronunciation, and I find it really difficult to actually verbally use the vocabulary I learn since although I know what the word looks like, I have no idea how to say it. In addition, I find it really hard to differentiate accents because if the word isn't pronounced the same exact way I learned the word, I can't piece together the sounds to understand that it's the same word, just in a slightly different accent.
I do realize that a lot of people who are not dyslexic struggle with similar problems when learning a new language, I think dyslexia just make its a lot more difficult to overcome. So if anyone, with or without dyslexia, has any good tips or tricks they have learned over the years, it would be amazing to post here. Also, I am curious to see if there is anyone else who has dyslexia that feels the same way, I would love to hear other people's experiences!
Saludos, Emma.
If the issue is your reading, you may want to focus on speaking and listening. Keep in mind that we humans have been speaking for ten times longer than we've been reading, and grammar is processed mostly in the auditory cortex and surrounding regions.
Rather than labeling your challenges as "dyslexia," perhaps you could describe exactly what you mean by "some difficulties." That would make it a lot easier to help you further.
I'm not diagnosed dyslexic, but I'm pretty sure I have dyscalculia as I can't learn formulas, I reverse numbers, and have trouble relating maps to 3D space. I had a student who was dyslexic and told her to try this (based on no research or anything, I was just curious if it would help her because it helps me). If I "air write" numbers as I say them or they are said to me then I can remember them without reversing them. She said it did help and as she took tests you could see her mouthing a word and "air writing" it. I don't know if your difficulty is the same as hers, but you could try it. I know it sounds stupid, but I don't write in large point font when I'm not at home, lol. :) I'm trying to overcome this, as I'm learning to fly and don't want to cause a disaster because of number reversal!
"Dyslexia and Foreign Language Teaching" is a course on FutureLearn I started and didn't get to keep doing because of my time constraints. It seemed like it might be useful. I had a friend who didn't find out she was dyslexic until college Spanish class and her professor noticed. She had an easier time in Russian class because of the time spent associating sound with symbol in the class. I want to take that class and be the teacher she needed for other kids. I wish I would have known about my number issues in time to help me in all those math classes that so discouraged me and I can imagine it would be very discouraging to try to overcome it. You can though, and I will fly without mishap too. :)
